Up and Down

The seasons, they rise and fall

And I struggle to explain

To the sun, why I just don't

Change my path and flee the rain

I exist here and nowhere

Wrap around and take me down

Where the crashing waves of blue

Soothe me 'till I'm lost, yet found

And when I breathe

A voice tells me

To listen closely to the sound

Of the words I want to hear

And the words that I have feared

For far too long

It's not easy

But I'm learning

Every moment, up and down

It's not a crime

It's just the passing of the years

Of the years that we call time

Now the day begins again

I'm ready for the unknown

Smile and dance as the rain falls

Realizing I have grown

And when I breathe

A voice tells me

To listen closely to the sound

Of the words I want to hear

And the words that I have feared

For far too long

It's not easy

But I'm learning

Every moment, up and down

It's not a crime

It's just the passing of the years

Of the years that we call time

Through the good

Through the bad and the gray

Through the highs and the darkness of day

I will feel it all

Embrace the rise and fall

For it's not a crime

It's just the passing of the years

Of the years that we call time

I don't know who I want to be but I know who I am and that's enough

I don't want to simply "see" the moment I want to be in the moment for far too long I have been an observer trying far too hard to preserve some sense of control the kind of control that eats away you
